There's a story behind these colours.
When I was painting my Highland cow series, I kept thinking about Harris Tweed -those incredible rich purples and greens and golds that you see in the bolts of cloth. Applecross is probably where that inspiration is most evident.
I imagine her standing on the headland overlooking the sea at Applecross at that golden hour when the light goes all warm and low, and you can see every colour of the landscape reflected in her coat. She's getting on a bit in years, but she's never looked more beautiful.
She comes framed in a simple black float frame, or as an unframed canvas (ready to hang straight out of the box). She brings the same energy to a room as she does to a field, steady, warm and lovely.
