Rules of this game are simple: eat as many berries as possible before sunset.
In fact, this year it's going to be quite imperative to start feeding our wildlife in the early autumn. Have you noticed the early berries? They have been forced out due to the heat and will be over and done with, months before the normal time.
I've been looking at ways to make my garden a help to wild birds and animals. We can create piles of dead and rotting wood, leave out mushy apples and pears. Leave tall grasses with seedheads to do their thing. Keep garden tidying to a minimum ( I never need an excuse). Allow holly, ivy and hawthorn free rein and hope to see visitors enjoying their fruit this year.
