Rufus is the ancient Roman name meaning ‘Red-haired’. It just seemed to be perfect for this fiery gentleman!

Rufus is painted in oils in my signature expressive style, incorporating a variety of marks made by brush and fingers. He currently hangs on the wall in my studio, causing visitors to exclaim ‘Oh wow’ when they first lay eyes on him.

As you can see from my photos, he changes colour slightly depending on the light and is varnished with a good quality gloss varnish which helps the colours to pop.

Rufus is painted on a stretched canvas, with painted sides to match, giving a seamless look. He is ready to hang unframed, although he would also look amazing presented in a float frame (as shown in two of the example photographs.
