This piece is all about the loving bond between the mother and her calf. Twiga is the Swahili word for giraffe. The babies are born with the ability to run almost immediately, and they stay with their mother for around four years, assisting with the birth of new calves as they come along.  Baby giraffes are absolutely beautiful and pretty, with their velvety coat, huge eyes and little horns like fluffy paintbrushes.

 The surface of the painting is textured and tactile, composed of multiple layers of paint, with visible brushstrokes.
