Every artist has a painting that changes things. Lochaber is mine.
I painted him without a name, or a plan, just a Highland cow staring out of the canvas like he had somewhere to be. Big, bold, no nonsense. I didn't know then that he'd go on to be licensed in 2018, become a best selling image, get widely recognised (and yes, widely copied. I take that as a sort of compliment to him.)
Most people see him as a boy and I think that's right. There's a solidity to him that a name like Lochaber suits perfectly. It took a while to find it but it was always the right one.
He's now available as a large canvas print directly from me for the first time, printed on high grade fine art cotton canvas with eco-inks guaranteed for over 100 years. Every detail from the original oil painting comes through beautifully.
He looks particularly brilliant large, so if you've got a dining room, a hallway, a big living room wall that needs something with a bit of presence and personality, he's your fella.
You can find him in the shop here.
