Most creatures run from a Highland storm.

The Hebridean is stoic, wise, and very, very hairy -  and simply waits it out.

In the Scottish Highlands, freezing wind and 'sideways' rain can whip through mountain passes at 100mph+. Even in the maelstrom, the Highland cow stays warm under her double-layered, storm-proof coat. She grazes on, unbothered. She knows the storm will pass. 

As I painted her, I used warm colours to signify her lantern spirit shining through the gloom of the stormy night. Special stormy backlighting effects also give this piece an outstanding impact.
